Carlton have picked up GWS Giants midfielder Lachie Whitfield during the AFL trade period, with the deal confirmed on 13 October 2026. Five picks moved between the two clubs in the transaction.

Whitfield has been a loyal and consistent Giant over his career and is regarded as one of the competition's more consistent midfielders. He brings plenty of experience to a Carlton midfield that has been building steadily in recent seasons.

His move to Carlton ranks among one of the bigger trades of the 2026 period. The Giants will hold on to the five picks in return for losing a player who gave them many years at the highest level.

For Carlton, landing a midfielder of Whitfield's calibre is a real boost heading into the next campaign. The deal shows Carlton means business as they push up the ladder in 2027.
