OCEARCH reported that Contender, the largest great white shark tagged in the program at 1,600 pounds, has reached Newfoundland waters. This is the first time a tagged shark in the program has swum into those waters. Contender is the largest shark OCEARCH has ever tagged.

In a separate incident, a surfer was bitten by a shark at Glenfield Beach in Western Australia. Shark attack survivor Leah Stewart said "My heart stopped" as she shared new details about the incident. Scientists also described discovering the world's largest shark.
